There is a theory that stated that the main cause of obsession is in data processing deficits. Data processing deficiency is one of the most important factors for starting obsessions.

When a person has a lack of professionalism to process the data that is in his mind, he may feel anxious or stressed over that which will cause him an overthinking to overcome this stress which will eventually lead to obsession. Also, obsessive people may have a higher level of sensitivity toward stimuli related to their fears.

Obsession is Handicapping 

According to the latest editions from  American Psychological Association, it includes that Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder has handicap properties that affect the person’s life, it may also affect the person’s mental stability. 

Types of Obsession 

People who suffer from obsession, feel that they are captivated by it, as they are in a continuous repetition of the same behavior for no specific reason and without control over that behavior whatsoever. 

Also, these people have a higher propensity for depression or other psychological ailments. 

Obsession is not only overthinking the same topic over and over, obsession has a lot of types it may include: 

  • Cleanliness or an obsession over hygiene
  • Checking – uncertainty and constant checking with regard to domestic situations
  • Order – the search for symmetry and precision

Obsessive Love Disorder

Obsessive love disorder is one of the most underrated types of obsession, nevertheless, it is one of the most dangerous types. 

Although some health cares professional don’t believe that Obsessive love disorder is not a mental health condition, but it can be a sign of other mental health challenges and conditions.

  • There are several symptoms that any obsessive person can suffer from and here are some of them
  • Obsessive Person focuses on the partner as an object for “consumption” or ownership, as opposed to an equal.
